Quick Note: Manifestation - The What? Why? And How?

Updated: Sep 1, 2023

When you feel stuck, and worrying about your future, think about creating some manifestations.

Have you ever been in a funk, where you are constantly feeling as if you are stuck in a never ending cycle. You are longing for some type of change in you life whether it is something big or small. This type of feeling tends to happen to me in the winter when I am stuck inside or when I have felt I have been doing the same things everyday for too long.

This past year I have been practicing manifestation. Manifestation is the act of various pseudoscientific self-help strategies that can purportedly make an individual's wishes come true by mentally or physically visualizing them. This helps you put energy towards things, places, people you want to. Here are a few different strategies for doing this.

Creating a manifestation board

  1. Take the time to think of what matters to you, or changes you would like to see yourself make. What are your goals and aspirations? What do you want to create or attract? Write these down as affirmations down to help you figure out what you would like to visualize.

  2. You can either make this board virtual or physical. When it comes to virtual try using websites like Canva , Adobe Express, or if you are more advance try Adobe creative cloud apps. You may find pictures from Pinterest, Instagram, or even from your own camera roll. If you want a physical board to hang up find cardboard, a foam board, or a poster board from a craft store along with glue, tape, markers, stickers, etc. Print out or cut out images from magazines that represent your desired outcomes, such as a dream job, a loving relationship, financial abundance, or good health.

  3. Once you finish your board hang it up somewhere that you will see daily to remind yourself what you are working towards. If your board is digital make it you wallpaper on your laptop or phone. Take a few minutes each day to look at your board and visualize yourself already having achieved your goals.

Say it aloud

Another way to manifest is to repeat your goals out loud to yourself. You may do this by looking at your self in the mirror when you wake up and telling your self your affirmations and goals. These affirmations can be "I am beautiful" "Today is going to be a great day" "I am doing this for my future" etc. This sets you up to focus on positive outcomes that can come out of your day. Saying these daily help reenforce self love which is important for mental health. When I have a hard project or exam coming up, sometimes I repeat my goals over and over out loud so I remember what I am doing this for. Another good way is putting a picture of your young self up somewhere and speaking to them because they are part of the reason you are doing this in the first place.

Practice gratitude

Think of what you are grateful for and why. What have these things done to help get you to where you are today. Gratitude helps strengthen relationships between you and those around you. Reminding someone of how grateful you are to have them not only helps you stay grounded but also gives people a sense of impact. Don't forget to remind yourself how grateful are of yourself and that you are here today.

Continue to take actions towards your goals

Take a class, watch videos, or read about your goals. Talk to those who have archived what you want, they may have some tips and tricks to help you get there. Start saving money or start spending it what ever it make take to help you obtain those goals. And don't forget to remember the "Why" you are doing this and focus less on the "when".
