My Personal Experience with Nuuly

I first heard about Nuuly when I worked as a sales associate for Urban Outfitters. I loved the idea of being able to rent clothing items that would maybe be outside of my comfort zone with out the commitment of having to buy them.

It wasn't until 2 years later when I had first tried the rental company. I had began working my first corporate office job where I constantly was complementing my coworkers outfits. Time and time again I heard the phrase "It's from Nuuly". I knew that I had to try it out.

I first used Nuuly two weeks before my trip to New York City, hoping to plan my outfits and incorporate some standout pieces. I started by saving hundreds of styles to my favorites (seriously, hundreds!). There were so many options I loved that it took me a while to narrow it down to just six items. After placing my order, my package arrived within four days. Since I had selected a couple of jackets, the box was quite large. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved every single piece I had chosen. During my time in New York, I received numerous compliments from strangers on my outfits. I even bought I few of my items before returning them!

My second month with Nuuly didn’t go as smoothly as the first. I hadn’t realized that you can’t order your next set of rentals until Nuuly receives your previous ones. While that makes sense, this meant I only had my second set of clothes for less than three weeks before needing to return them to avoid being charged for a third month.

The timing was especially frustrating because I had a trip to London during the return period and was looking forward to wearing those outfits. Unfortunately, you can’t adjust your rental date; Nuuly automatically charges you on the same date each month unless you cancel and restart your subscription. So, if you’re planning to use your items for a special event, make sure it doesn’t coincide with your return window.
